The STaR Centre at Harefield Hospital was officially launched on 9th November 2011.

Bob Bell, Chief Executive of Royal Brompton & Harefield FT, opened the event, noting that StaR Centre is a contraction for Simulation Training and Research Centre, which explains the function of the unit. It is housed in a chalet that was in poor condition, but following refurbishment it is now a source of pride. What is done there is high risk but immensely important research into effective methods of training clinical personnel. The result of such research allows some patients to be alive today who would have died a generation ago.

For an account of the opening see “Recent News, Hillingdon Issues”, on this website.
