Rikin Patel gained a BSc Hons in Pharmacy from the University of Brighton in 1998. The following year he completed his Pre-registration training with Boots the Chemists in Harrow. Once qualified, he worked as a pharmacist for Boots for a short while and then worked as a locum pharmacist until 2001. From 2001 to 2003 he worked at Frank Wreford Chemist in Neasden.

 In August 2003 he took over Sharmans Pharmacy in Northwood. he has been the Superintendent Pharmacist at Sharmans Pharmacy since then. He owns a number of pharmacies locally jointly with his wife who is also a pharmacist.

 Between 2006 and 2007 he attended Kings College in London and obtained his prescribing qualifications. He  has been the Vice-Chair of Hillingdon Local Pharmaceutical Committee for over 4 years. and work very closely with the medicines management team at Hillingdon CCG and have recently been involved with the Integrated Care Program for Hillingdon.
