Dr Richard Grocott-Mason has been a Consultant Cardiologist for over 15 years.  He has wide experience in general adult cardiology, including assessment of coronary artery diseasevalve disease and heart failure.  He is an interventional cardiologist performing coronary angioplasty and is an active member of the primary angioplasty rota at Harefield.

Dr Grocott-Mason trained at Jesus College, Oxford and St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School, London, qualifying in 1986.  He trained in Cardiology and General Medicine at numerous hospitals, including King’s College Hospital, The London Chest Hospital, Guy’s Hospital, Harefield Hospital and the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff.

In 1999 he was appointed as Consultant Cardiologist at Hillingdon Hospital and Harefield Hospital.  He combined his clinical work with clinical leadership roles, first as the Clinical Director for Medicine and then as Joint Medical Director and Responsible Officer for The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.  He has recently moved to Harefield Hospital as the Divisional Director of the Heart Division.

He has a passionate interest in ensuring that patients receive a high quality clinical service, and is always looking at innovative ways to organise and run clinical services.  He has published over 60 papers and case reports over his career on topics ranging from basic science to long-term outcomes from cardiac transplantation and aortic valve replacement.
