Robyn Doran is Director of Operations and Partnerships, Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL). CNWL deliver Mental Health Services to Hillingdon residents in partnership with Hillingdon Council.

Robyn was appointed as the Director of Operations for all Trust Services in November 2008, having been acting into the post for one year. Robyn qualified as a registered psychiatric nurse in New Zealand in 1983. She has held a number of positions in management of various mental health, addiction and learning disabilities services in New Zealand, Australia and England. Robyn started working for CNWL in 1988, and has worked in most directorates across the Trust. In 2005 she completed her MSc in Change Agent Skills at Surrey University.

Robyn presented to the group how mental health services are changing to improve the quality of care that is provided. She spoke about why CNWL has changed how services are delivered by introducing service line management. This has been an ambitious change moving from managing services by location to services managed by type. Delivering services in this way ensures that there is equal access to care, regardless of where you live and that the same standard of care is provided across all the borough locations. It has improved the initial access to services by creating a new assessment and brief treatment team.

Her colleague, Sarah Rushton, Associate Director of Service Redesign, presented planned improvements to accessing urgent mental health care out of hours. There will be a single telephone number to use out of hours for all service users, GPs and carers. This will be available by spring 2013.
