Dr Mark Edwards MA FRCP PhD trained at The Queen’s College, Oxford then The London Hospital Medical School. After junior doctors posts in the London area he undertook a prolonged period of research in diabetes particularly with relation to the hormone GLP-1, and has published over 30 papers. Dr Edwards trained as a Specialist Registrar in North West London before gaining a consultant post at the Hillingdon Hospital in 2003. He is now Clinical Director of Medicine as well as Clinical Lead for Acute Medicine and Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology. Dr Edwards continues to have a keen interest in education and research giving frequent lectures to doctors, patients and the general public. He is interested in all aspects of diabetes, but particularly prevention of diabetes and new drug treatments, he continues to publish reviews, and has recently written a book on type 2 diabetes.
