Raj Bathula, FRCP, PhD, AHEA, is one of the Stroke and Geriatric Consultants at the Hyper Acute Stroke Unit at Northwick Park Hospital, Harrow. This is one of the 8 hyperacute stroke centers in London. Dr Bathula graduated from Barts and the Royal London Medical School in 1999 and did his speciality training in rotating through North West London at West Middlesex, Hillingdon, Hammersmith and Charing Cross Hospitals. He was awarded a PhD from Imperial College in 2009 for his work on ethnic differences in stroke risk, before being appointed to his Consultant post at Northwick Park. He is very keen on teaching and teaches and examines undergraduate students from Imperial College, as well as teaching postgraduate doctors at Northwick Park for their membership exams. Dr Bathula was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London in 2013 and has completed his teaching training to be awarded Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Authority. He has an active interest in service development and sits on the Stroke Steering group for North West London as well as the London Ambulance Service's Clinical Audit and Research Group.
